Typography Project Revised -Write Up

I think the revisions that were made to my typography project were successful. Changing the background color from white to an off-white cream color made a big difference in upping the contrast. I also changed the pie color to resemble more of a key-lime pie. Again, a successful change in my opinion. The number-color coordination was changed so that both of them are in an increment of 3. I also went back in and added some squash and stretch to the pie when it hits and lands on surfaces which also proved very helpful in the overall aesthetics of the Typography piece. Ive really enjoyed this piece and I felt the critique on Tuesday was very constructive in helping me revise this project. Honestly, I would love to work with text again.

Typography Project Write Up

The typography project was actually pretty fun. I had fun doing it and generating ideas to work with. I have a lot of ideas already for revisions that I think will make it much better. Overall, im really happy with the way the animating played out especially in the beginning with the falling pieces of pie. I think the revisions I will make on for Thursday will make the concept much clearer. I cant wait to see everyone elses projects. I can tell im getting more comfortable with how the program works now because its not taking as long to do what I want to do and I am finally successfully using the graphing charts to make smoothing animating a possibility.

Revised Mid Term Project

revisions_1_midterm from Christi Lemke on Vimeo.

Here is my revised and rendered midterm project. There are still many things I wish I had gotten to do with this particular project; however, im really pleased with how the animating turned out. I hate that I couldnt stick closer to the original storyboard, but I figure I liked this idea so much, ill come back to it again at some point and keep working. I fixed most of the hiccups in the animating and added an actual ending to the project.

Mid-Term Final Project

My midterm project is obviously not complete and has several issues and hiccups.
However, On a positive note, i am pretty pleased with the progress and animating that
i did manage to get done. It was so terribly time-consuming that I almost lost my mind with my other classes work piling up as well. However, I will finish it in the coming week and make revisions.

Typography Project Outline

Typography project outline:

For this project im continuing working with food as a basis but moving towards consumption.
I have gone back inside the body to the core of a human, the heart.

This project will start with the close up on the text of the heart pumping. Text will run through the arteries and out through other arteries into the space around it. The text itself is important to the concept. There are 2 texts: "Consumption is negative production. (Alfred Marshall)" and "You are what you eat." The idea is to have text and pump faster and faster out of the heart and potentially wrap around the heart, strangle it, and when it bursts, it bursts into tons of little pieces of pie made from text that fall like rain in the scene. The images above are really just quickly done go give you an idea of the main objects in the piece. I wasnt sure if the solids of color behind the text could be used or not, but i put it in as a place holder just in case.

I followed a typical color pattern for the texts shown according to the different parts of the heart and arteries. I have gotten into many different kinds of texts yet, and i feel that may be important to differentiate meanings.

GNARLS BARKLEY WHATEVER TYPOGRAPHY VIDEO from jules tardy on Vimeo.

Here is a typoraphic video I found that I really liked because of the use of text
and animating it. Particuarlly, the part with the elephant jumping up and down right at 30 seconds into the video.

Typography On My Mind from FormTroopers on Vimeo.

I really enjoyed the use of color and text in this animation. The sortof 3D effect
with the colors is an interesting idea.

TypoParticles // Experiment from Anibal Camargo on Vimeo.

This is probably my favorite animation dealing with typography. Its the most
engaging use of text and has a very fluid movement id like to replicate.

Mid Term Project - In Progress Critique

Dynamic Imaging Mid Term In Progress from Christi Lemke on Vimeo.

This project has been extremely time consuming and strenuous. At this point, I am pretty positive it will not be completed as originally planned out according to the storyboard. There are just not enough hours in the day; however, we'll make it work. Im having trouble remembering all the masking techniques we learned a couple weeks ago, but thats nothing google cant fix. Overall, I still love the concept of the piece and the aesthetic, its just the technical command that needs major attention now. The project is actually not very big/long already, but all the parts are what are taking so long. Having multiple characters that have to be rigged and moving is difficult to achieve in 7 days period of time with other classes as well. Work work work and we'll see how much gets finished on by Thursday.
